Green Job Training Programs in San Francisco

There are many resources in San Francisco to get your start in the green economy. Below are some job resources and job training programs in the area.

Asian Neighborhood Design
Graduates of the Green Building Construction Program gain comprehensive skills in construction, building performance, solar PV installation, energy conservation, weatherization, re-use, and deconstruction, as well as basic education on topics such as history and mathematics and high school equivalency or GED preparation.

San Francisco Conservation Corps
Corpsmembers are 18-26 year-olds who join the SFCC job training and education program and work in teams on landscaping, recycling, playground renovation and community education projects that enhance the environment of San Francisco.

Community Housing Partnership
The Community Housing Partnership offers the Recycling and Environmental Awareness Program, an internship for residents of supportive housing in San Francisco who have formerly experienced homelessness. Over the course of ten weeks, interns learn about current issues in sustainability including Zero-Waste, Toxics Reductions, Natural Resource Conservation, Environmental Justice, Food Justice, Green Jobs, and more.

Friends of the Urban Forest 
Friends of the Urban Forest provides training and hands-on internships in Urban Tree Care for youth ages 14-18 through its Urban Forestry Program.

CityBuild Academy
SF’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development offers pre-apprenticeship and construction administration training through the CityBuild Academy.

Goodwill has several training programs, ranging from computer skills to truck driving to materials sorting.

SF Clean City Coalition
Clean City Partnership provides transitional employment opportunities through community improvement activities such as street sweeping, graffiti removal, and neighborhood greening.

Treasure Island Job Corps
Job Corps is a residential job training program for at-risk youth. Technical training areas such as automotive, manufacturing, and construction all include green curriculum.
