Zero Waste Grant and Youth Field Trip

The Department of the Environment awards funding to non-profit organizations (registered with the IRS as 501(C)3 organizations) whose work in source reduction, reuse, recycling, composting and outreach helps San Francisco reach its environmental goals.

For 2019-2021 fiscal years, the Department will award:

  • up to $720,000 over two years to projects that move San Francisco closer to its Zero Waste goal while providing a range of co-benefits such as workforce development, youth development and re-distribution of valuable resources.  Grants typically range from  $10,000-$100,000.
  • up to $20,000 over two years to one project that provides hands-on outdoor education activities for grades 6-12 focused on environmental justice issues, that also reinforce in-school recycling, composting, and water conservation curriculum.
