Planning and Funding Committee Special Meeting Minutes DRAFT

*If a quorum of the Urban Forestry Council is present, it will constitute a Special Meeting of the Urban Forestry Council.  The Council Coordinator shall make a note of it in the minutes, and discussion shall be limited to items noticed on this agenda.

 

**This meeting is a special event tour. The tour will depart from the parking lot adjacent to 1 Avenue of the Palms, San Francisco, CA 94103 at 1:30pm and return at approximately 2:30pm.

 

Committee Members:  Members Sullivan (Chair), Flanagan, Leffingwell, Manzone, and Swae

 

Order of Business

 Public comment will be taken before the Council takes action on any item.

  

1.    Call to Order and Roll Call.
The meeting was convened at 1:39pm. Members Flanagan, Manzone, and Swae present. Members Sullivan and Leffingwell excused.
 

2.    Public Comments. Members of the public may address the Committee on matters that are within the Committee’s jurisdiction and are not on today’s agenda.
There was no public comment.
 

3.    Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island Tour. The Committee will tour Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island to view trees within the redevelopment area, including olive and palm trees from the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island and buckeye trees on Yerba Buena Island. Presenters: Robert Beck, Treasure Island Director, Treasure Island Development Authority.  (Presentation and Discussion.) 
Treasure Island Development Authority and Contractors provided an overview of the development plan on site, including housing development plans, plans to transplant and preserve olive trees, palm trees, and select Italian Stone Pines on Treasure Island, environmental, historic preservation and cost considerations that impact tree transplanting plans, and plans for Eucalyptus and California Buckeye trees on Yerba Buena Island related to the development plan and habitat restoration plan. TIDA staff identified interested in urban wood reuse projects.
 

4.    Public Comments.  Members of the public may address the Committee on matters that are within the Committee’s jurisdiction and are not on today’s agenda.
There was no public comment.
 

5.    Adjournment at 2:42pm.

 

The next Planning and Funding Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 4:00 p.m., Offices of the San Francisco Planning Department, 1650 Mission Street, Room 400.
