Analysis of fiscal year 2013 municipal greenhouse gas emissions shows that over 57% of municipal greenhouse gas emissions are from the combustion of natural gas. The remaining 38% are from transportation fuels and 5% from communitywide wastewater emissions. Further details can be downloaded here.
The Board of Supervisors and the Mayor of San Francisco committed to reduce community wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from 1990 levels by 20% by 2012, 25%by 2017, 40% by 2025 and 80% by 2050.
