Solar Water Heating Incentives

A solar water heating system uses the sun’s energy to preheat the water in your water heater. This reduces the amount of electricity or gas your home uses for hot water and saves you money on your energy bill. Learn more: California Solar Initiative – thermal program. For more information call PG&E at 1-800-660-6789 (Spanish) or 1-800-893-9555 (Chinese).

Cash incentives are available to homeowners currently using gas water heaters that install eligible solar water heating systems. Incentive amounts vary based on the expected energy savings. Low-income homeowners may qualify for higher incentives. The incentive program is managed by PG&E for installations in San Francisco.
