San Francisco has many programs to help people get a start in the green economy and learn about the environmental field.
Asian Neighborhood Design
Asian Neighborhood Design also offers basic education on topics such as history and mathematics and high school equivalency or GED preparation. Graduates of the Green Building Construction Program gain comprehensive skills in:

- Energy conservation
- Re-use and deconstruction
Community Housing Partnership
The Community Housing Partnership offers the Recycling and Environmental Awareness Program, an internship for residents of supportive housing in San Francisco who have formerly experienced homelessness. Over the course of ten weeks, interns learn about current issues in sustainability including:
- Toxics Reductions
- Natural Resource Conservation
- Environmental Justice
- Food Justice
- Green Jobs
SF’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development offers training through the CityBuild Academy in:
- Construction Administration
Goodwill has several training programs, ranging from computer skills to truck driving to materials sorting.
SF Clean City Coalition
Clean City Partnership provides transitional employment opportunities through community improvement activities such as street sweeping, graffiti removal, and neighborhood greening.
Friends of the Urban Forest
Through its Urban Forestry Program, Friends of the Urban Forest provides training and hands-on internships in Urban Tree Care for youth ages 14-18.
San Francisco Conservation Corps
Corpsmembers are 18-26 year-olds who join the SFCC job training and education program and work in teams on the following projects that enhance the environment of San Francisco.
- Playground renovation
- Community education
Treasure Island Job Corps
Job Corps is a residential job training program for at-risk youth. Technical training includes a green curriculum in areas such as:
