Seed Lending Library

The San Francisco Seed Library hosts multiple seed library branches to facilitate the sharing and donation of seeds to help create a resilient local food and agriculture community in San Francisco. Participants may borrow seeds, grow edible and ornamental plants at their leisure, and then return harvested seeds to the library. Donations of seeds suitable to San Francisco’s microclimates are also welcome. A seed catalog, a planting calendar for San Francisco’s microclimates, and other research and information sharing resources are available.

Currently, two seed library branches are open: one at the Potrero Hill Public Library and another at Hayes Valley Farm – more details are available here.

The San Francisco Seed Library is a project of Transition SF in collaboration with SF Public Library Green Stacks Program and the San Francisco Permaculture Guild. Please visit the San Francisco Seed Library webpage for further information.
