SF Environment seeks to increase local food production and opportunities for urban gardening in San Francisco. SF Environment has spearheaded or contributed to the following projects in order to advocate for, showcase, and encourage urban agriculture in San Francisco:
Legislation
- Urban Agriculture Zoning Policy signed into legislation by Major Edwin Lee on April 20, 2011 to support greater local food production
Research and Analysis
- Strategic Plan Study on Commercial Urban Agriculture in the City of San Francisco Developed in Partnership with Presidio Graduate School Student Team
- Feasibility Study of Commercial Urban Agriculture in the City of San Francisco Developed in Partnership with Presidio Graduate School Student Team

- Resource and Gaps Analysis of Garden Opportunities in San Francisco (In Development)
Projects
- The San Francisco Urban Orchard project hosts fruit orchards in Golden Gate Park and low-income, “food insecure” areas in San Francisco.
- San Francisco Victory Gardens Project launched in 2008 in collaboration with Garden for the Environment to support the transition of backyard, front yard, window boxes, rooftops, and unused land into organic food production areas.
