Regulations for the Safe Drug Disposal Stewardship Ordinance
(San Francisco Environment Code Chapter 22,
Division I, Sections 2200 through 2219)

AUTHORIZATION

San Francisco Environment Code Chapter 22, Division I, Section 2214(a)

 

The Safe Drug Disposal Stewardship Ordinance (“Ordinance”) was signed by Mayor Edwin Lee on March 26, 2015, and became effective on April 25, 2015. The Ordinance requires any person who produces a covered drug offered for sale in San Francisco to participate in an approved stewardship plan for the collection and disposal of unwanted drugs from residential sources, as codified in the San Francisco Environment Code, Chapter 22, Division I, Sections 2200 through 2219 (“Chapter 22”).

 

The Director of the Environment Department promulgates these regulations pursuant to his authority to adopt rules necessary to implement and administer Chapter 22 under Section 2214(a).

During the hearing, members of the public will have the opportunity to comment about individual agenda items or speak generally about the Safe Drug Disposal Stewardship Ordinance. Persons unable to attend the hearing may submit written comments to the Department by 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2023. These comments will be made a part of the official public record and shall be brought to the attention of the Department.

Participating During Public Comment

Members of the public will have opportunities to participate during public comment. The public is asked to wait for the particular agenda item before making a comment on that item. Comments will be addressed in the order they are received. When the hearing officer announces that public comment will begin, members of the public can:

Public Comment

Public comment will be taken on each item before or during consideration of the item. Each member of the public may address the hearing for up to three minutes, unless otherwise announced by the hearing officer. If it is demonstrated that the comments by the public will exceed 15 minutes, the hearing officer may continue Public Comment to another time during the meeting.

 

Members of the public are invited to provide written comments regarding the proposed regulations. The Environment Department (“Department”) must receive all comments concerning the proposed regulations no later than 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2023.
