San Francisco is a constantly changing city. In order to make our building construction and renovation as sustainable as possible, codes and policies have been enacted to divert waste from landfills, reduce energy and water usage, encourage alternate modes of transportation, and to improve indoor air quality.

San Francisco Ordinance No. 27-06, effective July 1, 2006, amended the Building Code, the Health Code and the Police Code in order to establish a comprehensive program to effectuate the City’s goals.
