Notice of Public Hearing Regarding Changes Defining the Twelve-Month Annual Permit Cycle for the Construction & Demolition Recovery Ordinance

(San Francisco Environment Chapter 14 and Ordinance No. 144-21 and Public Works Code Section 725)

Ordinance No. 144-21 and Public Works Code Section 725

 

The Construction and Demolition Recovery Ordinance, Ordinance No. 144-21 and Public Works Code Section 725 (“the Ordinance”), was signed by the Mayor on September 24, 2021, and will become operative on January 1, 2022. The ordinance amends Chapter 14 of the Environment Code as well as the Public Works, Health, and Administrative Codes. The updated ordinance now requires any person or company that will be transporting or hauling mixed construction and demolition debris (called a Transporter) from the City and County of San Francisco to obtain an annual and/or 7-day permit issued by the San Francisco Department of the Environment (SFE) for each vehicle, or each debris box used to transport.

 

The Director of the Department of the Environment (“Director”) promulgates these regulations and associated forms pursuant to her authority to adopt regulations, guidelines, and forms and take any other actions as reasonable and necessary to implement and enforce rules and regulations under section 1410 of the Environment Code.
