How should I dispose of shredded paper?
Shredded paper is difficult to recycle, so please only shred documents that need to be shredded.
For small amounts of shredded paper:
- Put shredded paper in a paper bag or in a used, oversized paper envelope
- Secure it at the top with a staple or by folding it over.
- Label the bag "SHREDDED PAPER" and place it in your blue bin.
For business or individuals that shred paper in large quantities, the optimal route is to hire a shredding company (please check in with the company to make sure the paper gets recycled).
