From food to clothes to countertops, the things we buy and materials we use take a tremendous amount of natural resources. The extraction and use of oil, gas, minerals, and water required to make things can cause a wide range of damage to our climate system.

To fully understand our impact on the climate, SF Environment look at the products we consume and how and where these were made. The department works with other partners such as the University of California, the University of Colorado and Green Cities California to create alternative carbon footprints to help us minimize our climate impact.
