Organic Bouquet Presents United Nations World Environment Day Theme Song Gospel Stars Come Out To Save The Earth

Organic Bouquet Inc., the world's first organic floral company, based in Marin, CA has been named the "official florist" for the United Nations World Environment Day on June1-5, 2005 in San Francisco.
In addition to decorating San Francisco with organic flowers and floral sculptures during the week of festivities, Organic Bouquet is significantly contributing to the celebration by sponsoring several key events as follows:
Organic Bouquet Founder and CEO Gerald Prolman commissioned the legendary gospel singer Edwin Hawkins (four time Grammy winner, "O Happy Day") to write the theme song for the United Nations World Environment Day.
The recorded song entitled "United Nations, Together We Can" will be given to WED2005 by Organic Bouquet and Edwin Hawkins to help promote the event and future WED events around the globe.
Organic Bouquet is sponsoring a spectacular live performance of "United Nations, Together We Can" on June 5, 2005 with a 1,000 voice Gospel choir at the closing ceremony of WED2005 on the steps of City Hall in San Francisco. Celebrity Gospel and secular artists on the recording will be invited to sing with the 1,000 voice choir.
"What better way to say "Flower Power" than through the "divine power" of a Gospel song. I felt that a catchy spiritual song would be a welcomed environmental call to action. The world needs to be singing a different tune about the environment today and here it is", said Gerald Prolman.
Proceeds from the sale of this song will be donated to, A Community of Unity, an Oakland based non-profit led by Edwin Hawkins that raises funds for a variety of Bay Area charities. Prolman also serves as a board member of A Community of Unity which is where he connected with Edwin Hawkins.
"United Nations, Together We Can" is along the lines of "We are the World", a non-denominational, spiritually uplifting gospel song with lyrics that address the need to take care of our earth and be kind and respectful to all life on earth.
"For the sake of our children, it is our responsibility to heal the planet." Stated Edwin Hawkins, "God gave humankind dominion over the earth. This is a gift to us. We should take responsibility to maintain the natural resources we were given. I contributed this song to help raise awareness for the need for change before it is too late."
Edwin Hawkins is the song writer and producer. Gerald Prolman is the executive producer. High profile celebrity artists will perform on the recording that is scheduled for April 21 at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley California. A second recording date for additional Gospel and secular stars is scheduled for May 3.

United Nations World Environment Day is one of the most important events on the international environmental calendar. It is celebrated around the world on June 5, and each year the United Nations selects a major city to host the main celebrations.
San Francisco has been selected host city for World Environment Day 2005, the first time ever in North America. 2005 is also the 60th anniversary of the United Nations, which was founded at the 1945 charter convention in San Francisco.
The theme for World Environment Day 2005 is "Green Cities: Where the Future Lives." It will feature a series of special events focusing on urban environmental issues such as recycling, renewable energy, resource conservation, environmental justice and public health.
Mayors of the world's largest cities will share ideas and experiences, establish goals for urban environmental improvement, and identify the tools needed to achieve these goals.
