Definitions and Additional Information

Each Registered Facility has undergone a 3rd Party Verification process to review and verify its material Recovery Rates. More information about the 3rd Party Verification requirement is available in Regulation #SFE-5-18-CDO, Regulations Implementing the Construction and Demolition Debris Recovery Ordinance.

ADC, or “Alternative Daily Cover” refers to cover material other than earthen material placed on the surface of the active face of a municipal solid waste landfill at the end of each operating day to control vectors, fires, odors, blowing litter, and scavenging. The Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification disqualifies ADC as material recovery. For LEED projects, please refer to the facility’s “Recovery Rate without ADC” for the material recovery rate that Green Halo will use for weight tickets issued by that facility.

Recovery Rate is defined as “the percentage of total material that is diverted or recovered from disposal at permitted landfills and transformation facilities through processes such as source reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.”

Recovery Rates on this webpage are updated monthly. To obtain Recovery Rates for previous months, please contact the C&D Debris Recovery team at debrisrecovery@sfgov.org or by leaving a message at (415)-355-3799.
