[Zero Waste Funding Recommendations Fiscal Year 2015-17]

Resolution approving Department of the Environment Funding Recommendations for Zero Waste grant awards to eleven organizations.

WHEREAS, The Zero Waste grant program of the Department of the Environment administers a grant program that provides funding to non-profit groups; and,

WHEREAS, the Zero Waste grant program is dedicated to funding projects that divert waste from San Francisco’s landfill, thereby assisting the City in achieving its goal of zero waste by 2020, and achieving this at a low cost per ton of waste diverted; and

WHEREAS, in addition to helping San Francisco reach its zero waste goals, these grant funded projects achieve a range of co-benefits such as creating jobs, providing classroom materials for educators, securing healthy food for low-income San Franciscans and building community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, the Commission approves the award of Zero Waste grants, totaling $860,000 to be disbursed during FY 2015-2017 to the following organizations:
