[Commending Guillermo Rodriguez]

Resolution commending Guillermo Rodriguez for his service as Policy and Communications Director at the San Francisco Department of the Environment.

            WHEREAS, Over the course of nearly a decade, Guillermo Rodriguez has been an outstanding public servant and has worked tirelessly for the San Francisco Department of the Environment and the entire City and County of San Francisco family; and,

            WHEREAS, Guillermo Rodriguez joined the San Francisco Department of the Environment with excellent credentials having previously earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley and a Certificate in Financial Analysis and Management from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business; and,

WHEREAS, Guillermo Rodriguez joined the San Francisco Department of the Environment in 2011 after having previously served as Director of the City Build for Mayor Gavin Newsom where he led a city-wide initiative to support workforce development and grow the green job sector; and,

WHEREAS, Guillermo Rodriguez, as Policy and Communications Director for the San Francisco Department of the Environment demonstrated a superb political sense which enabled him to work extremely effectively with elected officials, members of the Commission on the Environment, staff at the San Francisco Department of the Environment and staff of other sister City agencies leading to many major legislative victories including legislation banning the use of single-use plastic bags, legislation requiring the takeback of unwanted pharmaceuticals, legislation requiring electric vehicle charging capacity in new developments and legislation supporting solar installations on all new buildings among other major legislative accomplishments; and,

WHEREAS, Guillermo Rodriguez earned the esteem of his colleagues at the Department of the Environment and the respect of his peers around the City and County of San Francisco and in the State Capitol for projecting calmness, control and competence which served as the foundation of all his many professional relationships; and,

WHEREAS, Guillermo Rodriguez proved to be a major asset to the Department of the Environment with his enormous depth of substantive knowledge about issues enabling both the Department and the Commission to strategize and carry out effective and efficient plans and campaigns such as the Annual Mayor’s Earth Day Breakfast and the launch of San Francisco’s 0-50-100 Roots Climate Action strategy; and,

            WHEREAS, The Commission on the Environment and the Department of the Environment hereby signify their appreciation for all the work that Guillermo Rodriguez performed; now therefore, be it,

RESOLVED, That the San Francisco Commission on the Environment and the Department of the Environment recognize Guillermo Rodriguez’s contributions to the Department of the Environment, and wish him the very best in all his future endeavors.

 

I hereby certify that this Resolution was adopted by the Commission on the Environment at its meeting on October 10, 2017.
