Resolution approving Department of the Environment Funding Recommendation for the Bayview Hunters Point Community Mural Project.

WHEREAS, The City and County of San Francisco, Department of the Environment (SF Environment) received a grant from the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to reduce the volume of abandoned used motor oil found in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood and increase the community’s awareness of safe disposal options by creating a community mural and conducting an education campaign; and
WHEREAS, SF Environment desires to work with a local organization to create a highly visible mural with messaging related to the appropriate disposal of used motor oil; and
WHEREAS, on October 24, 2014, SF Environment issued a Request for Proposals to solicit proposals for a local organization to create the mural and conduct related community outreach; and
WHEREAS, on November 17, 2014, SF Environment received 4 proposals for the community mural project and based on a review and evaluation of the applications, the Department recommends awarding funding to the Bayview Opera House in the amount of $45,600; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, the Commission on the Environment approves an award in the amount of $45,600 to the Bayview Opera House for the Bayview Hunters Point Community Mural Project.
